Passing up the Chronicle

Houston Chroncile Layoffs, originally uploaded by fcarters.
fcarters took this great picture of a truck passing the Houston Chroncile building. You can look at it as a beautiful photograph, or a metaphor for large issues in our society. Your choice.

Montrose Moonrise

H-Town Moonrise II, originally uploaded by J-a-x.
The moon peeks out from behind the clouds and looks down on its man-made competition in this picture of the downtown skyline taken by Jax from Upper Montrose.

Red Roofs are In

Rice Rooftops HDR, originally uploaded by J-a-x.
A little HDR technique brings out the red roofs of Rice University and beyond in this photo of the Houston sky and skyline by Jax.

Big Sky

Big Sky, originally uploaded by bill barfield.
A lot of people think the Williams Tower is the tallest building in Houston. It isn't, and even if it was, it's easily eclipsed by the towers of clouds mother nature churns up on a summer's day. Thanks to Bill Barfield for putting things in perspective for us.

Highway6 does a great job capturing the colors, intentional and otherwise, projected by the Rothko Chapel.

Menil HDR to BW

Menil 1, originally uploaded by Highway6.
Highway6 takes the latest trend in photography (HDR) and applies it to the oldest method in photography (black and white). The result really brings out light and shadow that couldn't be seen before. Very Guy Noir!

Angels to Demons

Cathedral HDR, originally uploaded by Highway6.
Highway6 turns angels to demons, capturing this picture of Sacred Heart bathed in red. Actually, it's just an effect of the cathedral using sodium lamps for illumination, but it certainly gives a normally shiny white building a completely different look.
