West Loop condo infill

West Loop North Heading South, originally uploaded by bilbao58.
With all the condo blocks rising in the West Loop, even the mighty Williams Tower has to strain to look over them. bilbao58 caught this great scene on the Southbound West Loop North.

You think your job sucks? Pucker up!

Lemonade stand from RCT3, originally uploaded by fmulder21.
Spending eight hours inside a fiberglass lemon is probably not how most people would want to spend a warm summer day. fmulder catches the absurdly lit and colored lemon contrasting with its dismal and more realistic surroundings.

Merging skylines

view from towers motor hotel, originally uploaded by *lauren.
*lauren shows us what Houston might look like if the Medical Center and Downtown skylines met. Just 80 or 90 high rises, and it could happen!

Big wheel keeps on turnin'

IMG_0247, originally uploaded by fmulder21.
Sure, it takes a little time for the cars of a ferris wheel to climb into the sky, but fmulder21's perspective in this shot captures the lights shooting straight into the sky.

Urban decay - inside out

brunson theater, originally uploaded by *lauren.
There are lots of places to see urban decay in Houston from the outside. *lauren shows us what it looks like from the inside -- it's actually full of pretty pastel colors.

The light of God

To me, what stands out the most about telwink's photo of Saint Paul's Methodist Church is just how crisp the illuminated tower is.  Shooting at night is hard.  Getting the light right without blurring and chromatic aberration takes a lot of skill.  Congrats to telwink for getting the shot.

Of Vultures and Ducks

Vultures and Ducks, originally uploaded by kshilcutt.
No matter what you think of oil companies, there's a foul for you at the BP America complex. kshilcutt points out that both ducks and vultures live there.

A window on the world

Telwink does it again -- another great picture that takes an average suburban day and gives it compelling visual interest.  That's what photography is all about.

Stealth monolith

Ceci n'est pas un bâtiment, originally uploaded by bilbao58.
Another great picture from bilbao58. An office tower reflects the sky around it and hides in the process like some kind of stealth building.

1 Shell Plaza, Houston, Texas, originally uploaded by Artefaqs.
I like this one because you can see the slight ripples in the pattern of the windows that are really there on the facade. It's a detail that a lot of people don't notice when they walk by.

1500 Louisiana, Houston, Texas

1500 Louisiana, Houston, Texas, originally uploaded by Artefaqs.
This is my current favorite Houston photograph. Mostly because it's so light at the bottom and dark at the top, and it looks like a cartoon until you get close and see the details. And there's no HDR used at all!
